Immigrant Integration: United for Progress
For 19 years, Dapo held a dream to build a great life in Canada with his family and be a respected member of the society. Armed with a great work experience and globally acceptable qualifications, he arrived in Canada from Nigeria with high expectations. He soon realized that he needed to demonstrate “Canadian experience” before he could secure a professional position. Through mentorship and “sponsorship”, he beat the odds and life took a positive turn. Using his experience, he critiqued Canada’s integration process and invited Canadians to “sponsor” economic immigrants while highlighting the mutual benefits to both immigrants and Canada.
